FAQ

Quick answers

How do I inline SVG use elements?
Click Inline uses. Every <use href="#id"> or xlink:href that points at a local id is replaced with a clone of that target. x and y on the use become a translate on the clone.
Does inlining delete the original symbol?
No. The <symbol> or source element stays in defs so you can keep using it as a sprite. Only the painted instances become real elements. Convert SVG to Symbol is the opposite wrap.
Are xlink:href and href both expanded?
Yes. href="#id" and xlink:href="#id" are treated the same. External URLs (a file path before the hash) are left alone.
Will cloned copies keep duplicate ids?
No. Ids are stripped from clones so the document does not contain two elements with the same id. Rename SVG Ids Sequentially if you need unique names on the copies.
