FAQ

Quick answers

How do I trim an SVG path by length?
Set Length (user units along the path from the first M) and click Trim path. Commands after that distance are dropped; the last segment is split.
How is trim-by-length different from baking a dashed stroke?
Bake dashes turns stroke-dasharray into many short subpaths and removes the dash. Trim keeps one open prefix of the original centerline — no dasharray required.
Does trim tessellate the whole curve like Flatten to lines?
No. Flatten samples every curve into L segments for the full path. Trim only shortens; cubics before the cut stay cubics.
What happens if Length is longer than the path?
Nothing. The path is already that short, so a second click with the same Length is a no-op.
